Senior/Principal Structural Engineer

Job Description

• RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Structural Engineer to take on a technically senior position in Richards Bay.
• This role is particularly suited to an engineer with a proven track record in structural evaluations, refurbishment and rehabilitation, as well as experience assessing the condition and remaining service life of structures. Exposure to mining environments will be highly advantageous.
• The successful individual will play a senior technical role within the business, taking responsibility for project delivery while supporting the development of less experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide senior technical direction on structural engineering assignments.
• Lead the assessment of existing structures and identify appropriate remedial solutions.
• Develop rehabilitation strategies and recommendations based on structural condition.
• Oversee structural design work and ensure technically sound project outcomes.
• Take responsibility for the successful execution of assigned projects.
• Attend client engagements and provide professional engineering advice.
• Conduct site-based investigations and inspections.
• Guide and develop junior and intermediate members of the engineering team.
• Review technical work and contribute to maintaining engineering standards.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and project teams.

Requirements:

• BEng/BSc or equivalent NQF Level 8 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• At least 10 years’ professional structural engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience across structural design, inspections/assessments and project execution.
• Strong background in structural rehabilitation and remaining-life evaluations.
• ECSA Pr Eng registration would be advantageous.
• Engineers who are actively working towards Pr Eng registration may also be considered.
• Confident dealing directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to own vehicle.
• Comfortable travelling between the office and mine/project sites as required.
