Project Manager - Retail Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager specializing in retail development to join their team. This hybrid role based in Stellenbosch will involve managing the planning and execution of new store openings, renovations, and refits. You will work collaboratively with internal teams, external vendors, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, meeting brand standards and business objectives. This role is vital for expanding the company's retail footprint and enhancing customer experience through well-managed development projects, balancing on-site oversight with remote coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle for retail development initiatives, from site selection to store opening.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, timeline, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with design, construction, operations, and marketing teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
• Conduct regular site visits and project meetings, providing status updates to stakeholders.
• Manage project risks and issues, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in Project Management , with a focus on retail or commercial property development.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, lease negotiations, and store fit-outs.
• Proven ability to manage projects effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• A degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field is preferred.
