Instrumentation Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician to join their industrial facility in Paarl . This role is essential for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of critical instrumentation and control systems that ensure the safe and efficient operation of our energy production processes. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measuring instruments. This is a hands-on role for a qualified technician looking to contribute to the operational excellence of a key player in the energy sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of instrumentation and control systems .
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on process control equipment, including sensors, transmitters, valves, and actuators.
• Read and interpret P&IDs , electrical schematics, and technical manuals to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Assist in the implementation of new instrumentation projects and system upgrades.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration results, and equipment performance.

Requirements

• National Diploma or relevant trade qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in an industrial or power generation environment.
• Strong knowledge of various instrumentation technologies, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement.
• Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining complex control loops and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a plant environment in Paarl.
