Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical components and systems for automotive applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Utilize advanced CAD/CAE tools to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and simulations for components such as engine parts, chassis elements, or suspension systems.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to integrate designs into production processes.
• Conduct rigorous analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration testing, to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop technical specifications, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation for automotive components.
• Stay abreast of the latest automotive industry trends, technologies, and regulations to inform design strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related automotive engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
• Solid understanding of automotive systems, materials, manufacturing processes, and automotive standards.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex design problems and deliver innovative solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail for the Durban facility.
