About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and innovative Process Development Chemical Engineer to join their expanding team in Port Elizabeth . This role is central to translating laboratory discoveries into scalable, efficient, and robust manufacturing processes. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of process development, from conceptual design and pilot-scale testing to supporting full-scale production. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for problem-solving in a dynamic industrial environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products.
- Perform process modeling and simulation to predict performance and identify potential issues.
- Scale up processes from laboratory to pilot plant and ultimately to commercial production.
- Analyze process data to ensure product quality, yield, and efficiency targets are met.
- Develop and implement process control strategies and operating procedures.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful technology transfer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development or chemical process engineering.
- Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
- Strong understanding of chemical kinetics , thermodynamics, and transport phenomena.
- Proven ability to scale up chemical processes safely and efficiently.
- Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
