System Administrator - IT Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced System Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure. This hybrid role, based in Mahikeng , involves ensuring the smooth operation of servers, networks, and related hardware and software. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and upgrading systems, as well as implementing security measures and supporting end-users. This position offers a blend of on-site responsibilities and the flexibility to work remotely, contributing to the stability and efficiency of the organization's technological backbone.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and related applications.
• Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance.
• Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to prevent downtime.
• Implement and enforce IT security policies, including user access controls, data backups, and disaster recovery plans.
• Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar IT support role.
• Proficiency in managing Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and network security best practices.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms is a plus.
