Civil Engineer - Structural Design Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Civil Engineer with a specialization in structural design to join their team in Nelspruit . You will play a key role in designing safe, durable, and efficient structural elements for a variety of projects, including buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities. This position requires a deep understanding of structural principles and materials, working closely with architects and other engineers to bring complex designs to life while ensuring adherence to rigorous South African building codes and standards in the Mpumalanga region.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, and timber structures.


• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using CAD and structural analysis software.


• Ensure compliance with the National Building Regulations and relevant engineering standards.


• Collaborate with project teams to integrate structural requirements with architectural and other engineering disciplines.


• Perform site inspections to verify construction quality and adherence to design intent.


• Research and implement innovative structural design techniques and materials.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, with a strong focus on structural engineering.


• Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural design.


• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Candidate Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.


• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or Prokon.


• Solid understanding of construction materials and methods.


• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
