Senior Analytical Chemist - Pharmaceutical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their pharmaceutical research and quality control division in Richards Bay . This position is vital for ensuring the purity, potency, and safety of pharmaceutical products through rigorous analytical testing and method development. You will be responsible for operating advanced analytical instrumentation, validating testing methods, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drug substance and drug product testing using techniques like HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure they meet predefined specifications.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation, ensuring calibration and optimal performance.
• Investigate and troubleshoot out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Prepare detailed analytical reports, method validation documentation, and stability study protocols.
• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry .
• Extensive hands-on experience with HPLC, GC-MS , UV-Vis spectroscopy, and dissolution testing.
• Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, ICH guidelines, and analytical method validation principles.
• Excellent data interpretation skills and proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail in experimental execution and documentation.
