Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead investigations and design solutions from their office in Klerksdorp . This pivotal role involves assessing soil and rock conditions for a variety of construction projects, including buildings, roads, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for interpreting complex geotechnical data, developing innovative foundation designs, and managing site investigations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of ground behavior, contributing expertise to critical projects across the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and manage geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess site conditions and potential risks.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and earthworks for various infrastructure and building projects.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including recommendations and design parameters.
• Provide expert advice on geotechnical engineering issues to clients and project teams.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international geotechnical standards and building codes.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration is essential.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) and data analysis tools.
• Extensive knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to manage projects independently.
