Field Service Technician - Renewable Energy

About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated Field Service Technician to join their growing team in Tembisa , focusing on the installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems. This hands-on role involves traveling to client sites to perform routine checks, diagnostics, and repairs on solar and wind energy installations. You will be a crucial part of ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of our clients' sustainable energy solutions, contributing directly to the transition towards cleaner energy sources and playing a key role in customer satisfaction and operational uptime for vital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain solar panels , inverters, and associated electrical systems according to technical specifications and safety standards.
• Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on renewable energy equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in renewable energy systems, utilizing specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, providing efficient and effective on-site support to customers.
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, using the company's service management software.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations while performing duties on-site and in the workshop.

Requirements

• Technical qualification or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably in the renewable energy sector or with complex electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring, and solar PV systems .
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within the designated service region.
