About the Role

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join their esteemed legal practice in Cape Town. This role requires a dedicated professional adept at navigating complex commercial disputes and advocating effectively on behalf of clients. You will be instrumental in managing all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through to trial and appeals. Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of commercial litigation matters, including contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, and debt recovery.
• Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, affidavits, and other court documents.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Advise clients on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and alternative dispute resolution methods.
• Engage in discovery processes, including document review and witness preparation.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the legal process.

Requirements

• Admitted attorney with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial litigation.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex litigation matters from inception to conclusion.
• Strong understanding of civil procedure, evidence law, and relevant commercial statutes.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet critical deadlines.
• Proficiency in legal research databases and case management software.
