Lead Process Engineer - Mining
About the Role
Our client seeks a highly skilled Lead Process Engineer with extensive experience in the mining industry to join their team near Randburg. You will lead a team of process engineers, provide technical expertise, and collaborate closely with operations and research teams to address complex challenges and implement improvements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of mineral processing circuits (e.g., comminution, flotation, leaching).
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance recovery, throughput, and product quality.
- Conduct techno-economic evaluations for new process technologies and plant upgrades.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to process engineering teams.
- Collaborate with operations to ensure safe and efficient plant performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Manage process data analysis, reporting, and documentation for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in process engineering within the mining sector.
- Strong expertise in mineral processing technologies, including hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, METSIM, HSC Chemistry).
- Experience with process control systems and data analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
