Senior Chemical Engineer - Plant Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Chemical Engineer with extensive experience in plant operations to join their team in Klerksdorp . This critical role will oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of chemical production facilities, ensuring maximum efficiency, safety, and compliance. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex operational issues, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a team of engineers and technicians. This is a leadership position for a dedicated professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize daily plant operations to meet production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for process upsets, equipment malfunctions, and quality deviations.
• Develop and implement strategies for improving plant efficiency, reducing operating costs, and enhancing product yield.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) regulations and company policies.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and operational staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and management teams to plan and execute plant turnarounds and capital projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical plant operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or senior engineering role.
• Proven track record of improving plant performance and safety metrics.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in process safety management (PSM) principles.
