About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Senior Materials Scientist to join their burgeoning renewable energy research division in Upington . This role is focused on the discovery, development, and characterization of novel materials for applications in solar energy, energy storage, and other sustainable technologies. You will lead research projects, collaborate with engineers and product developers, and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge clean energy solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Research, synthesize, and characterize advanced materials for applications in renewable energy technologies.
• Develop and optimize material properties to enhance the performance and efficiency of energy devices.
• Utilise advanced characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, spectroscopy) to understand material structure-property relationships.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate new materials into prototype devices and systems.
• Manage research projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and reporting.
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in materials science and renewable energy technologies.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in materials research and development, with a focus on energy-related applications.
• Strong knowledge of materials synthesis, characterization, and structure-property relationships.
• Experience with techniques relevant to solar cells, batteries, or catalysts is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to manage research projects and work effectively in a team environment.
