About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to lead and manage capital projects in Nelspruit. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in chemical engineering principles and strong project management capabilities. You will be responsible for overseeing projects from conception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has a proven history of successfully managing complex chemical plant projects and thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment, benefiting from a hybrid work model that supports both site visits and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of capital projects, including scope definition, planning, execution, and closure.
- Develop project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation plans.
- Oversee engineering design, procurement, and construction phases of chemical plant projects.
- Ensure projects comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure project success.
- Condit risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for project-related challenges.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in chemical engineering, with at least 5 years in project management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale chemical plant construction or modification projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with P&ID development, equipment specification, and process design.
