Senior Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Information Security Engineer for a fully remote position, based within South Africa. You will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced security solutions to protect the organization's sensitive data and critical infrastructure. This role demands a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. You will contribute to proactive threat mitigation, incident response, and the continuous improvement of our security posture, working within a culture that values innovation and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage advanced security technologies, including next-generation firewalls, SIEM systems, and advanced threat protection solutions.
• Develop and automate security processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Conduct in-depth security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management.
• Lead incident response efforts, performing forensic analysis and developing remediation plans.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to ensure security is embedded in all systems.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior security team members.
• Maintain and update security documentation, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in information security engineering.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with a wide range of security tools and platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for security operations.
• Deep understanding of network security, cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP), and endpoint security.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, vital for remote collaboration.
