About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Mine Maintenance Supervisor to lead their maintenance team at their facility near East London. This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mining machinery and equipment, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. You will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manage a team of technicians, and ensure strict adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership qualities, a deep understanding of heavy machinery, and a proven ability to manage maintenance operations in a demanding industrial environment, ensuring smooth operations in the East London region.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanical and electrical technicians.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all mining equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures efficiently to minimize operational disruptions.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations during maintenance activities.
• Manage spare parts inventory and oversee workshop operations.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for the maintenance team.

Requirements

• Trade qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, Electrician) or relevant technical diploma/degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Proven experience in supervising a maintenance team.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on mining equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and organizational skills, essential for site operations near East London.
