About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Mining Engineer to join their dynamic team in Pietermaritzburg . This role is pivotal in overseeing and optimizing mining operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans and production schedules to meet output targets efficiently and safely.
• Conduct regular site inspections and operational reviews to identify areas for improvement in safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee the management of mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with geological and environmental teams to ensure responsible resource extraction and environmental compliance.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Analyze mining data and provide detailed reports on operational performance, resource utilization, and project progress to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Proven expertise in mine design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan) and geotechnical analysis.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in the mining industry.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management and budgeting for mining projects.
