Structural Civil Engineer - Port Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Structural Civil Engineer to contribute to significant port infrastructure projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This role involves the detailed design and analysis of marine structures, bulk handling facilities, and associated civil works critical to port operations. You will work within a specialized team of engineers and project managers, ensuring the structural integrity and long-term performance of vital maritime assets. The position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to impact major industrial developments, requiring a meticulous approach to design, safety, and regulatory compliance within the demanding maritime environment of Richards Bay .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for port facilities, including jetties, wharves, and loading infrastructure.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for structural components.
• Conduct site assessments and inspections of existing port structures to evaluate condition and recommend repairs.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international and national codes and standards for port and marine structures.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, marine engineers, and construction teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Manage structural engineering aspects of project execution, from design through to construction phase support.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural engineering, with a significant focus on port or marine infrastructure.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000) and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of concrete, steel, and marine material design principles.
