About the Role

Our client is looking for a certified and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join their construction team in Richards Bay. This role involves operating various heavy machinery, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and cranes, to facilitate construction projects. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently maneuvering equipment to prepare sites, move materials, and perform heavy-duty tasks. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, highly skilled, and committed to operational excellence. This is a critical role in ensuring the smooth progression of construction operations within the Richards Bay region.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and cranes, safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure it is in good working order, reporting any issues promptly.
• Move earth, materials, and objects as directed by project managers and site supervisors.
• Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations and protocols, including traffic management and hazard identification.
• Collaborate with construction teams to ensure timely completion of tasks according to project schedules.
• Load and unload materials as required, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure transport.

Requirements

• Valid certification and proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
• Proficiency in operating a variety of heavy machinery relevant to construction sites.
• In-depth knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret site plans and instructions.
• Strong awareness of surroundings and potential hazards.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions in Richards Bay.
