Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dependable Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Technician to join their operations team in Benoni . This essential role ensures the optimal functionality and maintenance of all ground support equipment (GSE) critical to airport and aircraft operations. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of GSE, including baggage loaders, tugs, and de-icing units. Working in a fast-paced airport environment, you will contribute directly to the efficiency and safety of ground handling operations, ensuring that aircraft turnaround times are met without compromising safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of aircraft ground support equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.
• Ensure all GSE is operated safely and efficiently, adhering to company and regulatory standards.
• Respond promptly to urgent repair requests to minimize downtime and operational impact.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and ensure proper inventory management of spare parts.

Requirements

• Relevant technical qualification or certification in mechanics, diesel mechanics, or heavy equipment repair.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a technician, preferably with GSE or heavy machinery.
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic procedures.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding environment and in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain airport security clearance.
