Farm Manager - Mixed Farming

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and versatile Farm Manager to oversee all operations of their mixed-farming enterprise near East London. This comprehensive role involves managing both crop cultivation and livestock rearing, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and maintaining high standards of productivity and animal welfare. You will be responsible for leading a team of farm workers, implementing operational strategies, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This is an on-site position requiring hands-on leadership and a broad understanding of agricultural principles to drive the success of a dynamic farming operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations for both crop production and livestock management.
• Develop and implement farm plans to optimize yields, breeding, and grazing strategies.
• Manage farm labor, including recruitment, training, and supervision.
• Ensure the proper maintenance and operation of all farm equipment and infrastructure.
• Monitor livestock health and implement veterinary care protocols.
• Manage inventory of feed, seed, fertilizer, and other farm supplies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management, with exposure to mixed farming systems.
• Proven experience in crop management and livestock husbandry.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of farm equipment operation and maintenance.
