Senior Cybersecurity Analyst - Threat Detection

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Senior Cybersecurity Analyst focused on Threat Detection to join their dedicated security operations team in Rustenburg . This role is integral to safeguarding the organization's digital assets by identifying, analyzing, and responding to cyber threats in real-time. You will be at the forefront of defending against sophisticated attacks, utilizing advanced tools and methodologies to protect sensitive information. This is a challenging yet rewarding position for an expert in cybersecurity who is passionate about staying ahead of emerging threats and ensuring a secure operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs from various systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR) to detect and analyze potential security incidents.
• Conduct in-depth investigations into suspected security breaches, identifying root causes and impact.
• Develop and refine threat detection rules , signatures, and analytical models to improve detection capabilities.
• Respond to security incidents, coordinating containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, providing expert guidance to the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations , with a strong focus on threat hunting and incident response.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and other security monitoring solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of common attack vectors, malware types, and intrusion techniques.
• Experience with network protocols, operating system security, and cloud security concepts.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
