Senior Mining Foreman - Underground Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Senior Mining Foreman to lead underground operations in the Polokwane region. This hands-on role requires strong leadership to supervise mining crews, manage daily production targets, and ensure the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for the direct supervision of miners and operators, ensuring adherence to mining plans and safety protocols. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in underground mining and demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily activities of underground mining crews, including drill and blast, development, and production teams.
• Ensure all mining activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
• Monitor production performance against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee the safe and efficient operation of mining equipment and machinery.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and inspections, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Train and mentor junior supervisors and team members to enhance skills and productivity.

Requirements

• Blasting Certificate for Mines or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in underground mining operations , with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse workforce in a demanding environment.
• Strong understanding of various underground mining methods (e.g., stoping, drifting).
• Knowledge of mine safety legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
