Research Scientist - Neuroscience

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge Neuroscience research team in Paarl . This role is central to investigating the complexities of neurological disorders and identifying novel therapeutic targets. You will design and execute complex experiments using advanced techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, and potentially electrophysiology or in vivo models. Collaborating with a team of leading neuroscientists, you will contribute to projects aimed at understanding brain function and developing innovative treatments. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct original research to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurological diseases.
• Design and perform experiments using techniques such as primary neuron culture, brain slice electrophysiology, or animal models of disease.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and imaging software.
• Contribute to the development of new research hypotheses and experimental strategies.
• Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences in Paarl .

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience with a strong focus on neuroscience research.
• Proven experience with techniques relevant to neuroscience, such as molecular cloning, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, or electrophysiology.
• Strong understanding of neurobiology and current research trends in neurological disorders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
