Mechanical Project Engineer - Renewable Energy

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Mechanical Project Engineer to contribute to their growing renewable energy division in Stellenbosch . This role focuses on the mechanical aspects of renewable energy projects, such as wind or solar farms, from conception through to completion. You will be involved in site assessment, system design, equipment procurement, installation oversight, and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability and a strong background in mechanical project management within complex engineering environments, contributing to the green energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the mechanical engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and design reviews for mechanical systems, including structural and foundation design considerations.
• Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical components and equipment.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in project engineering , preferably within the renewable energy sector (wind, solar).
• Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects from start to finish.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, structural engineering principles, and site operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.
