Civil Engineer - Municipal Infrastructure Services

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Civil Engineer to manage and oversee the development and maintenance of municipal infrastructure services in Polokwane . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient delivery of essential services such as water, sanitation, and roads to the community. You will be involved in project planning, design oversight, contract administration, and site supervision, working closely with municipal departments and external contractors. The position requires a proactive individual with strong project management skills and a commitment to public service and community development.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage municipal infrastructure projects, including water reticulation, sewer networks, stormwater systems, and road upgrades.
• Oversee the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and administration of construction contracts for municipal projects.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure construction quality, adherence to specifications, and progress timelines are met.
• Liaise with internal municipal departments, external stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to coordinate project activities.
• Assist in the development of infrastructure asset management plans and long-term capital investment programs.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant legislation, engineering standards, and environmental regulations in Limpopo .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on municipal infrastructure or public works projects.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) is highly advantageous.
• Experience with municipal project management, contract administration, and FIDIC or similar contract forms.
• Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil Designer).
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
