Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the telecoms industry , is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg . This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable network infrastructures that support critical business operations and customer services. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our client's network assets, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy complex network solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive measures to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents and problems in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
• Collaborate with security teams to implement and enforce network security policies and best practices.
• Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning to support future growth and evolving business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on enterprise-level network infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and switching technologies (VLANs, STP).
• Hands-on experience with network security principles and technologies, including VPNs and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools and analysis of network traffic.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
