Senior Process Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Process Engineer to contribute to their operations in Bloemfontein. This role is essential for designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting the complex processes involved in the Oil & Gas industry. You will ensure that all operations are efficient, safe, and environmentally compliant, working on projects that range from new facility design to continuous improvement of existing plants. The successful candidate will leverage their deep technical expertise to solve challenging engineering problems and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process designs, PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for oil and gas facilities.


• Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize plant performance and identify potential issues.


• Conduct hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and safety reviews.


• Troubleshoot operational problems and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.


• Specify process equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and separation units.


• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and control engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.


• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering , with a significant portion in the Oil & Gas sector .


• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus).


• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer principles.


• Experience with safety studies and risk assessments.


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
