Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a technically adept and proactive Information Security Engineer to enhance their security infrastructure in Polokwane . This hybrid role involves designing, implementing, and managing security solutions to protect the organization against cyber threats. You will be instrumental in deploying and configuring security technologies, responding to security events, and contributing to the overall security strategy. Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and maintain security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security solutions.
• Monitor security systems for threats and anomalies, and participate in incident response activities.
• Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential weaknesses.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into system deployments and operations.
• Assist in the evaluation and deployment of new security tools and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in information security engineering or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience with network security devices (firewalls, IDS/IPS), endpoint security solutions, and SIEM platforms.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network protocols, and common security vulnerabilities.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
