Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an accomplished General Manager to lead an exceptional luxury safari lodge within a renowned private reserve in the Waterberg. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced luxury hospitality professional who combines strong commercial ability with genuine warmth, exceptional people leadership and a passion for the safari industry. The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the lodge operation, ensuring outstanding guest experiences, strong financial performance, an engaged and high-performing team, and the continued delivery of world-class hospitality within a conservation-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day and strategic operation of the lodge.
• Maintain exceptional standards across guest experience, accommodation, food and beverage, guiding, maintenance and lodge operations.
• Be a visible and engaging host, building meaningful relationships with guests.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, costs and overall financial performance.
• Drive profitability while maintaining luxury service and brand standards.
• Lead; mentor and develop the lodge management team and wider staff complement.
• Oversee recruitment, performance management, succession planning and team culture.
• Work closely with sales, marketing and reservations teams to support occupancy and revenue objectives.
• Maintain strong relationships with conservation partners, local communities and key stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, labour, environmental and operational requirements.
• Champion responsible tourism, conservation and sustainable lodge practices.

Requirements

• Relevant hospitality, tourism or business qualification.
• Approximately 10+ years' hospitality experience ; including at least 5 years in a senior leadership position .
• Proven General Manager or senior lodge management experience within the luxury safari or high-end hospitality sector .
• Strong understanding of the Southern African luxury safari market.
• Excellent financial and commercial acumen.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, ideally within a remote lodge environment.
• Exceptional guest relations and hosting ability.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Calm; resilient and solutions-focused, with high emotional intelligence.
