Process Control Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join their advanced manufacturing facility in Stellenbosch . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of automated control systems for chemical processes, aiming to enhance efficiency, product quality, and operational safety. You will work with sophisticated control hardware and software, developing advanced control strategies and ensuring the reliable performance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). This hybrid role allows for collaborative work on-site with operations and engineering teams, combined with remote capabilities for system analysis and configuration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission process control systems , including DCS and PLC applications.
• Develop and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies to optimize plant performance and stability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control systems, instrumentation, and automation hardware/software.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control strategies and ensure smooth technology transfer.
• Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including P&IDs, logic diagrams, and user manuals.
• Ensure all control system designs comply with safety standards and cybersecurity best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering within a chemical or similar industrial environment.
• Proficiency with DCS platforms (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV) and PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell).
• Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and automation principles.
• Experience with Advanced Process Control (APC) techniques is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
