About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly competent Process Safety Engineer to join their technical team in Nelspruit . This critical role focuses on ensuring the integrity and safety of our oil and gas processing facilities, implementing robust systems to prevent major accidents. You will conduct hazard analyses, develop safety procedures, and provide expert guidance on process safety management principles to minimize risks and protect personnel, assets, and the environment in the Mpumalanga industrial area .
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
- Perform risk assessments and ensure the mechanical integrity of critical process equipment.
- Review engineering designs and modifications for process safety implications.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide training and technical support on process safety to engineers and operations personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of process safety standards, such as OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in conducting PHAs and developing risk-based safety studies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) is a plus.
