Banking & Finance Lawyer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Banking & Finance Lawyer to join their respected legal team in East London . This role focuses on advising financial institutions and corporate clients on a broad spectrum of banking and finance transactions, including syndicated loans, project finance, corporate debt, and regulatory matters. You will play a key role in structuring, documenting, and negotiating complex financial deals. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance lawyer to enhance their expertise and contribute to significant transactions within the Eastern Cape 's growing economy.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise financial institutions and corporate borrowers on various finance transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, and related finance documents.
• Conduct legal due diligence for financing arrangements.
• Advise on regulatory compliance within the banking and financial services sector.
• Structure complex debt financing solutions for corporate clients.
• Liaise with clients, financial institutions, and other advisors throughout the transaction process.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in banking and finance law.
• Proven track record in advising on syndicated loans, corporate finance, and structured finance.
• Strong understanding of South African banking regulations and financial markets.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage complex transactions and deliver commercially pragmatic advice.
• Experience in project finance is a significant advantage.
