Lead Process Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Lead Process Chemical Engineer to spearhead process engineering initiatives in Richards Bay . This role involves a hybrid work arrangement, offering a blend of on-site leadership and remote flexibility. You will be responsible for leading complex process design projects, optimizing existing operations, and mentoring a team of chemical engineers. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and profitability of our client's chemical manufacturing processes, driving innovation and continuous improvement across the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, engineering, and commissioning of major capital projects related to chemical process improvements and expansions.
• Oversee the optimization of existing plant processes to enhance performance, reduce operating costs, and improve product quality.
• Develop and implement advanced process control strategies and P&ID updates.
• Conduct rigorous process safety assessments, including HAZOP studies, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level chemical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional development.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and management teams to ensure seamless plant operations and efficient project execution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in the chemical industry, with a significant portion in process design and project leadership.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale chemical engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Expertise in process simulation, P&ID development, and process safety management (PSM).
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to balance on-site responsibilities with effective remote communication and collaboration.
