Senior Aviation Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Aviation Safety Officer to enhance their safety management system in Sandton, Gauteng . This pivotal role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs to ensure the highest standards of operational safety across the organization. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture among all employees. This position requires a deep understanding of aviation regulations and a commitment to proactive safety initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with SACAA and international aviation safety standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification analyses for all aviation operations.
• Lead and participate in the investigation of aviation incidents and accidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to foster a robust safety culture throughout the organization.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the SMS remains compliant and up-to-date with current aviation legislation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Safety Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aviation safety management, preferably with experience in corporate or airline operations.
• In-depth knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) , risk management principles, and aviation regulations.
• Experience with incident investigation techniques and reporting protocols.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively in both remote and on-site environments in Sandton .
