Sustainability Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Sustainability Architect to champion environmentally responsible design practices within their projects in Nelspruit . This role is dedicated to integrating green building principles, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient strategies into all aspects of architectural design and development. You will work collaboratively with design teams, consultants, and clients to achieve high levels of environmental performance and certifications like Green Star or LEED. The ideal candidate is passionate about sustainability, possesses a strong understanding of environmental design strategies, and is committed to shaping a more sustainable built environment in the Mpumalanga region and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate sustainable design principles and strategies into architectural projects from concept to completion.
• Conduct energy modeling, life cycle assessments, and environmental impact studies.
• Research and specify sustainable materials, systems, and technologies.
• Advise project teams and clients on green building certifications (e.g., Green Star, LEED).
• Develop strategies to optimize building performance, water efficiency, and indoor environmental quality.
• Collaborate with consultants to ensure the seamless integration of sustainable solutions into the overall design.

Requirements

• Professional registration with SACAP as an Architect.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in architectural practice, with a strong focus on sustainable design.
• Professional accreditation or certification in green building (e.g., Green Star SA Accredited Professional, LEED AP).
• Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., IES VE, EnergyPlus) and BIM tools.
• In-depth knowledge of sustainable building materials, renewable energy systems, and climate-responsive design.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
