About the Role

Our client in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead High School Mathematics Teacher to inspire and guide students in grades 8-12. This pivotal role involves not only delivering engaging mathematics instruction but also leading a team of fellow educators, developing curriculum, and fostering a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver comprehensive mathematics lesson plans for high school students, aligning with the national curriculum.
• Lead and mentor junior mathematics teachers, providing guidance on pedagogical approaches and classroom management.
• Assess student progress through various methods, including tests, assignments, and practical evaluations, providing constructive feedback.
• Organize and oversee extracurricular mathematics clubs, competitions, and enrichment programs to foster student interest.
• Collaborate with school administration and parents to address student academic needs and performance concerns.
• Stay current with advancements in mathematics education and implement innovative teaching strategies.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field, with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the high school level, with proven leadership capabilities.
• Proficiency in curriculum development and assessment design for mathematics .
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated experience with educational technology and digital learning tools.
