About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Drilling Engineer with a strong background in offshore operations to join their team based near Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This position is vital for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling campaigns in challenging marine environments. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and supervising drilling operations, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of safety and environmental protection. The role involves a hybrid work schedule, allowing for essential on-site engagement complemented by remote planning and analysis. This is a key leadership role within a globally recognized energy company.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive drilling programs and well plans for offshore exploration and development wells.
• Specify and select appropriate drilling equipment, fluids, and technologies.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for drilling operations.
• Supervise drilling operations on rig sites, managing crews and ensuring adherence to plans and safety protocols.
• Perform real-time drilling performance monitoring and analysis to optimize operations.
• Manage drilling-related budgets and control operational expenditures effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience as a Drilling Engineer , with a significant focus on offshore projects .
• Proven track record in planning and executing complex drilling operations.
• Strong understanding of offshore drilling technologies, equipment, and safety standards.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
