HSE Manager - Oil & Gas Operations

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic and experienced HSE Manager to lead their Health, Safety, and Environment initiatives for operations in the Nelspruit region. This senior role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive HSE programs to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and foster a strong safety culture across all facilities. You will work closely with senior management and operational teams to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance within the demanding oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement company-wide HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards.
• Oversee incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and emergency response planning.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on HSE best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HSE management, with a significant portion in the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards (e.g., OHS Act, environmental legislation), and best practices.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
