Senior Systems Administrator

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Klerksdorp . This role is essential for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the company's servers, networks, and operating systems. You will be responsible for system upgrades, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing robust IT solutions. This position offers a great opportunity to take on significant responsibility within a key operational function of the business in the North West .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), and network devices.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights to ensure system security.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues to minimize downtime.
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
• Perform regular system updates, patching, and security audits.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior IT staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration and IT infrastructure management.
• Strong knowledge of server operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux distributions.
• Experience with network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud platforms is a plus.
