Mining Geologist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Mining Geologist to join their exploration and operations team in Stellenbosch. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and delineating mineral resources, conducting geological mapping, and providing essential data for mine planning and development. This role is crucial for assessing the economic viability of deposits and ensuring efficient resource extraction within the mining industry. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological principles, mineralogy, and exploration techniques, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accurate data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and logging of drill core for various mineral exploration projects.
• Perform geological data analysis and interpretation to identify and delineate mineralized zones.
• Develop and manage geological models using specialized software.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers and other geologists to define resource blocks and optimize extraction strategies.
• Ensure the quality and integrity of geological data collected and reported.
• Assist in the estimation of mineral resources and reserves, adhering to industry standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mining Geologist, with practical experience in exploration and resource modeling.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine, Vulcan).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, mineralogy, and ore deposit types relevant to the region.
• Experience with various exploration techniques, including drilling, sampling, and assaying.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
