Mine Maintenance Manager
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Mine Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations for their facilities near East London . This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of all mining equipment, including heavy machinery, processing plants, and infrastructure. You will lead a team of maintenance technicians and engineers, implement preventative maintenance programs, manage spare parts inventory, and control maintenance budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering with extensive experience in mining equipment maintenance. This is a crucial role for maintaining operational uptime and efficiency in the Eastern Cape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for all mining equipment.
- Manage and lead the maintenance team, including scheduling, performance management, and training.
- Oversee the repair and upkeep of heavy mobile equipment, fixed plant machinery, and electrical systems.
- Manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and efficient use of resources.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and inventory of spare parts.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and operational standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in the mining industry.
- Proven experience managing maintenance for heavy mobile equipment (e.g., excavators, haul trucks) and fixed plant.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning software and ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a mining environment near East London.
