Field Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Field Electrical Engineer to be based in the Upington area. This role requires an individual who is comfortable working on-site, overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment for various industrial and commercial projects. You will act as the primary technical point of contact on project sites, ensuring work is completed to specification, on time, and within budget, while adhering to strict safety protocols. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a hands‑on role, solving practical challenges, and contributing directly to the successful delivery of complex electrical installations in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the installation of electrical equipment and systems on project sites.
• Conduct pre‑commissioning checks, testing, and commissioning of electrical installations.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with design specifications, project plans, and safety standards.
• Identify and resolve on‑site technical issues and deviations from the design.
• Collaborate with site managers, contractors, and clients to ensure project milestones are met.
• Prepare detailed site reports, progress updates, and commissioning documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in field engineering, site supervision, or commissioning roles.
• Proven experience with industrial electrical systems, control panels, power distribution, and low voltage systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical testing procedures and safety regulations (e.g., working at height, live working protocols).
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
