Farm Manager - Sustainable Operations

About the Role

Our client, a leading agricultural enterprise in Pietermaritzburg , seeks a dedicated and experienced Farm Manager to oversee all operational aspects of a large-scale farming unit. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive farming plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and harvesting strategies.
• Manage and supervise farm personnel, providing training, setting performance goals, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, ensuring optimal working condition.
• Monitor crop health, soil conditions, and pest control measures, implementing appropriate interventions to maximize yield and quality.
• Manage livestock health and welfare programs, ensuring proper feeding, breeding, and disease prevention protocols are followed.
• Maintain accurate records of farm operations, including production data, expenses, and inventory, and prepare regular reports for management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in farm management, with a strong understanding of crop and livestock production.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of farm workers.
• Proficiency in agricultural software and data management tools for record-keeping and analysis.
• Knowledge of sustainable farming techniques, irrigation systems, and pest management strategies.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons in Pietermaritzburg .
