Energy Storage Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Energy Storage Systems Engineer to contribute to innovative projects in Stellenbosch. This hybrid role involves collaborating with design teams, managing installations, and ensuring the seamless integration of energy storage solutions with existing power grids and renewable energy sources. You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing advanced battery systems, tackling challenges related to grid stability, energy management, and sustainability. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background in electrical engineering and a passion for advancing the capabilities of energy storage technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify energy storage systems, including battery technologies, power conversion systems, and control strategies.


• Develop technical specifications, performance requirements, and testing protocols for ESS projects.


• Conduct system integration analysis, ensuring compatibility with grid infrastructure and renewable energy generation.


• Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and testing phases of ESS deployments.


• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to energy storage system performance and operation.


• Collaborate with &R&D teams to evaluate emerging storage technologies and contribute to future product development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.


• Minimum of 4 years of experience in designing or implementing energy storage systems (ESS).


• Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, and control systems for ESS.


• Proficiency in simulation tools for power systems and ESS performance analysis.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.


• Experience with hybrid work arrangements and a willingness to travel to project sites near Stellenbosch are essential.
