Senior Accountant (Group) - IT industry
Minimum Requirements
BCom Accounting Degree or equivalent qualification Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles Minimum of 6 years' post-articles accounting experience Strong understanding of IFRS and South African tax legislation Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with ERP/accounting systems Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Assist with preparation of annual financial statements
General Ledger & Month-End Processes
- Manage the general ledger and maintain accounting integrity
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Process and review journals, accruals, and provisions
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT calculations and reconciliations
- Support income tax and provisional tax calculations
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Liaise with auditors and tax consultants during audits and reviews
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and reports
- Review banking transactions and reconciliations
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analyse financial results against budgets and forecasts
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management
Audit & Internal Controls
- Coordinate internal and external audit requirements
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies
- Identify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies
