Senior Systems Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Nelspruit . This role involves overseeing the installation, configuration, and reliable operation of servers, networks, and other IT systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the security, integrity, and performance of the company's IT environment, as well as providing technical support to end-users. This is a hands‑on position for a proactive administrator who enjoys problem‑solving and ensuring seamless IT operations within a stable, local team.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
• Ensure the security of IT systems through regular patching, updates, and implementation of security best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT infrastructure role.
• Proficiency in Windows Server administration and common Linux distributions.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and network hardware.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud platforms is a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
