Legal Advisor (Contracts)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous Legal Advisor with a specialization in contracts to join their team in Paarl. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining remote work convenience with essential in-office collaboration. You will be primarily responsible for the review, drafting, and negotiation of all types of commercial agreements, ensuring legal soundness and alignment with business objectives. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional with a strong command of contract law and excellent communication skills. You will play a vital role in managing the company's contractual obligations and mitigating associated risks, working closely with various departments to facilitate smooth business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including sales agreements, service level agreements, and partnership contracts.
• Provide expert legal advice on contractual terms, conditions, and potential risks to business units.
• Ensure all contracts comply with relevant legislation and company policies.
• Manage the contract lifecycle, including record-keeping, renewals, and amendments.
• Conduct legal research related to contract disputes and advise on resolution strategies.
• Collaborate with procurement, sales, and other departments to streamline contract processes.

Requirements

• LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience focused on contract law and commercial agreements.
• Thorough understanding of South African contract law principles.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document review and drafting.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple contract files and meet deadlines effectively within a hybrid work setup.
