Junior Legal Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Legal Officer to support their legal team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career legal professional to gain broad experience in a variety of legal functions within a corporate setting. You will assist senior legal staff with legal research, document management, and compliance tasks, playing a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the legal department. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, possess strong organizational skills, and be committed to upholding the company's legal standards and best practices in the Richards Bay area.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on assigned topics and prepare summaries of findings.
• Assist in the drafting and review of legal documents and correspondence.
• Manage and maintain legal records and filing systems, both physical and electronic.
• Support the legal team in compliance monitoring and reporting activities.
• Provide administrative support to the legal department, including scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
• Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as required.

Requirements

• Completed LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• 0-3 years of experience in a legal environment, internship, or relevant practical experience.
• Familiarity with South African legal principles and basic contract law.
• Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
